How to find Giovanni

The six-step special quest Looming in the Shadows is now available in Pokémon GO. This is a new exploration questline in which Team R leaders appear in Pokémon GO. Completing it will help Professor Willow create the Super Rocket Radar.

Super Rocket Radar is a stronger radar that can find the headquarters where Boss Tim GO Rocket Giovanni may be. Giovanni will be hiding, and Grants will distract you.

To start this questline, you must first complete quest Troubling Situation.

Stage 1 with 6

Thanks for your help in defeating Team GO Rocket Grunts... Team leaders have been watching Team R and they tell us it's not over yet. Package sent in time Capture Team GO Rocket, contained a message from an unknown sender. We need to reveal the identity of this unknown figure hanging in the shadows. Can you help sort out this mystery?

The stage reward is 500 Stardust, 10 PokéBalls and 10 Razz Berries.

Quest 2 with 6

Thanks for your continued support against these pesky Team R Grants. As they retreat, some leave behind mysterious components. They use these components to hack and steal resources from PokéStops. Smart little devices, right? We can glean information from these components that will help us in the fight against this dangerous organization. When we have enough parts, we can put together a device that looks like Willow's radar.

The quest reward is 1000 Stardust, 3 Hyper Potions and 3 Revives.

It seems in Team P there is more than previously thought. Their ingenuity made us think that these Mysterious Components could be used in a different way. We shouldn't underestimate Team GO Rocket. It's time to prepare for battle.

The reward for the stage is 1500 Stardust, 15 Great Balls and 5 Pinap Berry.

Assignment 4 with 6

Fantastic work. For prototype Rocket Radar some important components were missing. Your hard work finding these components actually made the device work.

If we combine our research and these mysterious components, we can create a radar-like instrument to track Team R's hideouts. Trainers around the world are now assembling such devices, and they are finding many hiding places.

Rewards: 2000 Stardust, Super Rocket Radar and 3 Golden Razz Berry.

Quest 5 with 6

You fought well. It looks like the sender of this mysterious package was not present when the Team GO Rocket was captured. Someone else is above Sierra, Cliff and Arlo. Building on our previous invention, we will put together the Super Rocket Radar to help track it down. If this is who we think about, then he signs all his messages with the letter G.

The quest reward is 3000 Stardust, Fast TM and Charge TM.

Stage 6 with 6

We stopped Team GO Rocket's plans for a while and saved the special Shadow Pokémon. It is unlikely that Giovanni will easily give up on this, so we need to confront Team R when they appear in the vicinity. Spark, Blanche and Candela will also be on their guard. Most likely, Team GO Rocket will soon try to organize their other villainous conspiracy.
