Unova is the fifth region in the Pokémon universe.

It is inspired by modern-day New York City, USA, marking the first time a Pokémon region was based outside of Japan. Unova first appeared in Pokémon Black and Pokémon White, both released for the Nintendo DS in 2010. It introduced 156 new Pokémon.
