The City Spotlight event is a new initiative that the developers will launch in November 2020 in select cities. She will invite players to travel around the city and places nearby. Trainers will be able to explore special locations while creating memories with their buddy pokemon - something like a treasure hunt.
The event will offer the opportunity to discover exciting surprises while exploring nature - all while remaining socially distanced. This will be possible through customized research assignments, walking-based gameplay, and social distancing bonuses.
Niantic worked with each city to design the gameplay in accordance with local health and safety regulations.
City Spotlight 2020 Event
On Sunday 22 November 2020 from 10:00 to 18:00 local time, players will be able to take part in this event in the following cities:
- Tainan, Taiwan;
- Kyoto, Japan;
- Auckland, New Zealand;
- Busan, South Korea.
Both free and paid content will be present here. The details of what is included in each part are as follows:
1. Free content:
- City Spotlight Timed Research will lead the trainer around the city;
